There is a Japanese phrase, *ichigo ichie*, which holds deep meaning in the tradition of the tea ceremony. Inspired by this concept, I imagined these strawberries as people, and gave the work its title accordingly. Since returning to Japan in 2022, I have found myself once again deeply drawn to the beauty of Japanese painting pigments, while continually reflecting on what it means to express a distinctly Japanese sense of beauty. For me, it is about capturing the feeling of Japan’s four seasons and expressing it in a minimal, distilled form. This has been the guiding thread in my work. In this piece, I was inspired to paint the luminous charm of pale yellow roses.
